Shakkei

The 16th collection of fashion designer Gabriel Baradee is inspired by the hanging gardens of Semiramis. The collection is characterized by a mixture of single pieces and small series, in tradition with previous Shakkei collections. Prevalent colours are beige, olive green, grey, pastel rosé and écru/off-white. Soft floating materials guarantee for a superior wearing comfort, also at high temperatures. Lady coats for chilly summer nights make a great visual impact by their hand-hewn surfaces that resemble garden scenes. Men’s Jersey trousers and denim jackets for elegant-relaxed summer garden parties complement the collection. Fashion is always a form of staging. Hence, a performance at the Shakkei Store awakes the collection to life: Oversize-coats hide underlying outfits, but step by step, several layers become visible that disclose all details. This play with different transparent and opaque textiles remind of the concept of the hanging gardens that revealed their beauty only gradually to approaching visitors.
