Named after her grandmothers, Rutika Patki's collection reflects her love for her heritage and family, along with the a need to reinvent and introduce a culturally rich piece of clothing to the 21st century. The Sari is an age old garment that is loosing its importance in today's global fashion scene. from this came a need to upcycle these fabrics that once belonged to her grandmothers, savi and kishori, and create something that she, herself could wear and stand out from the rest. these statement pieces are experimentative and hold roots to further collections that can be easily worn in day to day lives. the pieces show technical expertise like, laser cutting, print reinvention and bonding of different qualities of fabrics together to create a quirky and fun collection of outfits.
