Graduation year

2015

It was in 2006 that I sat in my mother’s room, my eyes fixed on the television screen in front of me, watching Miranda Priestly take apart Andrea Sachs’ clothing using only her eyes. I fell in love with the movie, the characters and the clothes, of course. Not only did I end up buying a DVD of the movie, I also bought the book it was based on and read it from cover to cover in one go.
Since then I have graduated high school, gotten a BA(H) in Fashion Design from Pearl Academy, Delhi and an MA in Costume Design For Performance from London College of Fashion.
I think the turning point in my life as a designer was when I conceptualised my BA graduation collection 'Fimbulvetr' in 2012. It was based around the concept of raw and spontaneous creation and for me each piece tells a story. It has since become my life and soul, my bread and butter. 100% handcrafted, it is my ode to the craftsmen and women who painstakingly weave magic and bring things to life.
As part of my MA, I have showed my works at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and recently at the Lilian Baylis Studio-Sadler's Wells, London.
