My collection is inspired by La Cerdanya. The place where I feel the most alive and the happiest. The colours, the breath-taking views and the amazing landscapes have been surrounding me since I was a little girl. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved sunsets and the colours which these combine. I have had this feeling of presence and peace when watching these. There is something magical about them.
Pink, blue, yellow, orange… Colours and the ways in which these melt together creating spectacular views. They make something so beautiful that is capable of making our worlds stop. It is an intervening period of time, an interlude. For a few seconds we forget everything else and we are able to live the moment. Most of my childhood memories were made here, I grew happy and care-free. It is where I learnt to seize the day. Something so simple yet forgotten by the majority of us.
The sun is the most important element in sunsets. Its position dictates the combination of colours. As the minutes pass by different mixtures are created showing various shades of oranges, yellows, pinks and blues. I wanted colour to have the same relevance in my collection which is why I decided to create my own prints and paint the fabrics with these.
I captured the sunset in its different stages, creating a story line between the diverse moments. I later manipulated these digitally in order to give a technical feeling to them to relate them to the style I was after in my garments.
Technical- wear is what I mostly wear when in La Cerdanya. This is what triggered my inspiration to do a sport collection. However, I didn’t want to loose the sophistication and delicacy of my style. I have mixed both to make a high-tech feminine collection. Light and fragile fabrics give life to my collection. Playing with their transparency and texture I am able to give life to a sporty yet elegant look. This sensation is also achieved through trimmings, choosing unique high-quality pieces which enhance the garments in a very personal way. The looks present volume on the outer pieces, jackets, coats and windbreakers; which contrast with tighter and more straight undergarments. The shape of the garments brings us back to the grace that the concept is after, belts emphasizing waists, see-through garments that hint the female body and cut outs which reveal fragments of it, leaving the rest for the imagination.
Delicacy is also present in the finishings. Presenting close attention to all details, from stitches to trimmings. Topstitching which reminds us of sport wear combined with double top stitching, mixture of threads, different stitch widths... Silk grosgrain, personalized cords and metallic zippers which brings us back again to the technical look.
The sun, the main inspiration, is also reflected on the accessories. Its rays and shape inspire the colours, prints and materials used. I have mixed circular shapes of both neon orange and transparent methacrylate in order to play with their transparency by juxta positioning them. Blue, orange and yellow are the colours used in the prints, either in ray like shapes or degrades, inspired by the fading of the sun at sunset.
