— The Brand
Established in December 2015, by designer Pooja Gupta, DOM is an urban and premium ready-to-wear design label with a classic yet eclectic sense of style transcending seasonal changes. Pooja’s passion for making everyday luxury products that make women feel powerful, elegant, sensuous, confident and embrace the different facets of their femininity with grandeur is brought alive in every collection. Her spirit of celebrating everyday life with a whimsical and humorous attitude comes through every collection which has an element of surprise. The focus is on great designs, minute detailing, and impeccable quality which builds products with a great repeat value.

— The Designer
Our founder Pooja Gupta is a NIFT, Kolkata graduate and holds a MA Design degree from UCA, Rochester. Her dynamic interests and approach within the scope of her field have led her to expand her boundaries beyond Door Of Maai. She has been a faculty member and is on the advisory board of ESEDS School Of Ethical Design Studies, Kolkata. She features as one of the mentors on the platform Whats Your Chase and is the core team member of Fashion Revolution India heading their operations in West Bengal. Pooja is also an independent design consultant who has handled projects for various designer brands starting from building collections to sampling and production services. She has recently expanded her portfolio as a stakeholder and investor in the kidswear brand called Pink Cow Pvt Ltd.

— The Design Process
DOM has built its name as an ecologically and socially conscious design house owing to the design practices that we follow. Each collection has a particular type of environment-friendly practice built into its making; this could either be the use of GOTS certified organic cotton or handloom (khadi) textiles or export surplus fabrics. Up-cycling and re-cycling to make one-off pieces and reduce fabric left-overs are also often incorporated as design processes. Working on singular projects with independent cottage industry artisans have also been undertaken in the past. Doing capsule collections and small batches of production aims at refraining from over production and waste.

— The Social Wing
DOm SOCIALS which conducts workshops and programs that aim at social welfare impact and community empowerment. The brand runs a vocational training unit in the city’s largest prison and correctional home, empowering the in-house convicts to become skilled in stitching and other artisanal techniques. Being a core team member of Fashion Revolution India, Pooja, our founder has organized several programs for the benefit of the fashion industry labors.
