Dream Sequence 2.3 was inspired by internet subcultures. Most notable the internet subculture "sad boy". This internet subculture is heavily influenced by anime, manga but also memes with references to Nietzsche and Schopenhauer. It attracts depressed individuals from across the world, because nowadays we are meant to be upbeat everything else is being stigmatised as weird but those who face pain and suffering in order to grow in life will be left sad and those individuals find comfort in niches such as the sad boy internet subculture.
