A contemporary womenswear collection inspired by one of the world’s most spectacular wonders; the Taj Mahal. a symbol of love, wealth, and pure opulence.
The collection references the black Taj which was designed to have been built opposite the original white Taj Mahal. a symbol of love built by a mughal king for his wife, it is in all it’s glory, a magnificent piece of design, with both architecture and interior.
The contrast between the black, gold and white in the colour story serves to highlight this. Wood carvings and lattice work, seen both on the inside and outside of the mausoleum are interpreted through intricate laser cutting, beadwork and geometric shapes.
Garment silhouettes are taken from the architecture and feature dome and lantern silhouettes. Pockets, collars and edges are heavily embellished, inspired by the architectural patterns.
Luxurious Fabrics are used; Raw silk, Silk Satin and Neoprene along with heavily embroidery fabrics, braids and trimmings sourced directly from India.
All of this combined together creates a modern vision of opulence for spring summer 17.
